Did everyone enjoy my review of the fantastic book The Fender Telecaster: The Life And Times of The Electric Guitar The Changed The World? I know I enjoyed writing the review and reading the book.
But as much fun as it was to read, and as much fun as it was to write about, it sure would be cool if YOU could read it for yourself - even better if you could read it for free.
And sure enough, you can. Well, one of you can. We're going to have a giveaway and the winner will receive a copy of the book from Voyageur Press and it's super easy to enter. The contest will run from right now until 12:01 AM on Wednesday, November 28th CST. That gives you plenty of time to contemplate your answer to my question (necessary to enter), and also accommodates a Thanksgiving break. So you have two weeks to follow these instructions to enter the drawing.
1) Leave a comment with your dream Telecaster and your name. you don't have to leave your full name, your first name and last initial is all that's required.
2) Email me at rhythmandboos@gmail.com with this same information and "Book Giveaway" as the subject title so I have a way of reaching out to you.
The winner will be announced on the Fifth Fret's Facebook page prior to any emails going out, so if you haven't started following the Facebook feed (over here ---->), then click and follow me. Make sure you sign up to see all the updates in your feed to guarantee that you see the announcement.
The winner will be announced on the 28th of November.
I look forward to seeing your replies!

My dream tele is a Tele Delux with the perfect neck or a 52 blonde Tele. hselburn
A Blacktop Baritone: http://www.fender.com/products/blacktop/models.php?prodNo=0148700
Very cool, right? Steve O.
It would have to be a black 72 tele deluxe because that is my wife's favorite guitar (and that is probably the only way another guitar is coming into this house anytime soon).

Dream Tele......Charlie Christian pickup in the neck, ash body, butterscotch nitro finish, bigsby, chunky maple neck 9.5 - 12" compound radius...
That should just about do it!
For me a telecaster always reminds me of Bruce Springsteen. So it will have to be some model that looks like his.
maybe American Vintage '52 Telecaster, butterscotch blonde.

My dream Tele is a modern update on the original. i.e. 'arm/belly curves', locking tuners, straplocks, no pickguard, better high fret access. Classic sounds with 21st century advances
Mine would essentially be based on one of the new Telecaster Thinline Super Deluxes, in a nice minty Seafoam Green with white pearloid scratchplate and matching binding. Nickel hardware. I would chamfer the back of the heel joint and inside the cutaway (a little like Vai did on his Green Meanie). Might scallop the (maple) fretboard from the 12th on up. I still want to keep most of the classic look, just hotrod it a bit. Pickups? Maybe TV Jones Power'Trons.
Wow, I think I actually have to build this. Yeah, it's different. But I already have (and love) a Butterscotch Blonde Tele.
A 1951 NoCaster black guard Telecaster. That's my dream.
